Do you recognise these symptoms in your Prius 2?
- The red triangle with exclamation mark and the engine light come on together (often with the battery light).
- The battery gauge on the display jumps quickly from full to empty, or the other way round.
- The petrol engine starts much more often and fuel consumption rises noticeably.
- The car accelerates less well, especially when merging or going uphill.

Where is the battery and what do we do?
In the Prius 2 the hybrid battery pack sits behind the rear seat, under the boot floor. We remove the old pack, fit the new or refurbished pack and then check with diagnostic equipment that all battery blocks are properly balanced. We also clean the battery's cooling air intake so the new pack does not get too hot.

Is a new battery still worth it for an old Prius 2?
That depends on how long you want to keep driving the car. For many Prius 2 drivers a refurbished battery is the smartest choice: for €695 you are back on the road without problems, with 12 months warranty. If you want to keep the car for years, a battery with new cells is cheaper per kilometre.
How long does the replacement take?
Usually 1 to 2 hours. You can wait for it, or we come to you if the car no longer drives.
Can I still drive with the red triangle?
Often yes, but with less power and higher fuel consumption. Do not keep driving like this for too long: a weak battery also puts strain on the rest of the hybrid system.
