Where is the battery and what do we do?
In the Prius 3 the battery pack sits behind the rear seat, under the boot floor. Cooling air is drawn in through a grille next to the rear seat. In many Prius 3s that grille and the fan get clogged with dust or pet hair, making the battery too hot so it wears faster. That is why we also clean the cooling with every battery replacement – so the new pack lasts longer.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between refurbished and new cells?
With a refurbished battery (€795) we replace the weak cells with tested, healthy cells. With a battery with new cells (€1,749) all cells are replaced with new ones – the best choice if you drive a lot of kilometres per year, for example as a taxi.
How do I prevent the new battery from getting too hot?
Keep the ventilation grille next to the rear seat clear (no bags or cushions in front of it) and have the cooling cleaned now and then. We do this as standard when replacing the battery.
Is my old battery traded in?
Yes. Prices apply when you trade in your old battery. We make sure the cells are reused or responsibly recycled.
